The cityscape of russia's metropolis St. Petersburg is not only dominated by lush historic architecture. It is home to an abundance of public sports fields. Since there are so many of them sprinkled across the entire urban territory (a swan-song for russia's status as a great sporting nation), the photographic documentation of this phenomenon can be seen as both a social and architectural portrait of the city St. Petersburg.
