After the 2008 South Ossetian War between Russia and Georgia, many Georgian people were forced to leave their homes in South Ossetia. In order to provide shelter for the so called "internally displaced persons" (IDP), new settlements were erected quickly after the war ended. These photographs show peoples' lives in Tserovani. This biggest new settlement consists of 2000 identical houses. For its inhabitants, jobs are as scarce as perspectives.
Almost everybody wants to relocate to their respective homes but only time will tell when the dust settles between Georgia, South Ossetia and Russia. In the meantime, the citizens of Tserovani are slowly growing accustomed to the new home they were forced into living.
